Hi,I'm Dr. Nidhi !

You don't need to have everything figured out before you reach out.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, overthinking, navigating a challenging relationship, coping with heartbreak, or simply not feeling like yourself, I'm here to help.

Whatever brings you to seek support, you deserve to be heard.

My goal is to provide a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can speak openly, gain a better understanding of yourself, and feel supported throughout your journey.

WHY SOMA

Soma was inspired in part by my experience as a medical student in the United States, where I saw mental health being spoken about more openly and recognized as an important part of overall health. That experience stayed with me and made me think about how I could bring some of that openness into the way we talk about mental health here in India.

I created Soma because I believe taking care of your mental health should feel normal, approachable, and accessible.

We all go through periods when life feels difficult. We may be overwhelmed, constantly overthinking, struggling in a relationship, dealing with heartbreak, feeling burned out, questioning ourselves, or simply feeling like we aren't quite ourselves anymore. Yet many of us keep going without ever giving ourselves the opportunity to stop and address what we're feeling.

Sometimes we hesitate because we don't know if what we're going through is “serious enough.” Sometimes we're afraid of being judged. And sometimes, quite simply, the cost of getting help becomes another reason to put it off.

I don't think you need to reach a breaking point to deserve support.

Soma is meant to be a space where you can talk openly, understand yourself a little better, and work through what you're experiencing without feeling like you need to have everything figured out beforehand.

Affordability was also an important part of creating Soma. I wanted mental health support to feel like something people could realistically make room for in their lives, rather than something they continually postpone because of the cost.

That is why sessions are ₹999 for one hour.

My hope is to make taking care of your mental well-being feel a little less intimidating and a little more like what it should be: a normal part of taking care of yourself.

Because you don't have to wait until life feels unbearable to start taking care of your mind.

A PERSPECTIVE I BROUGHT HOME

My time in the United States as a medical student gave me a perspective on mental healthcare that stayed with me long after I returned to India.

What struck me most was how openly mental health was discussed. During my training, I saw conversations about anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, trauma, and therapy become part of everyday healthcare conversations. Mental health was treated as an important part of overall well-being rather than something that had to remain private or hidden.

I was particularly moved by the way seeking help could be viewed as a normal part of taking care of yourself. Talking to a mental health professional didn't necessarily mean that someone was “broken” or that something was seriously wrong. It could simply mean that they were going through a difficult period and wanted support.

I also became more aware of how the healthcare system can influence access to that support. In the United States, mental healthcare is recognized within the healthcare system and is often covered, at least in part, by insurance, although what someone pays depends on their individual plan and may include deductibles, copays, or coinsurance.

Coming back to India made me notice the contrast more clearly.

Mental health awareness in India is growing, but there is still a lot of hesitation around openly talking about it. For many people, there is a fear of being judged or misunderstood. And when mental healthcare has to be paid for out of pocket, the financial side can make reaching out even harder.

That experience made me think about what I would want mental healthcare to look like here.

I don't think we need to copy the way another country approaches mental health. But I do believe we can move toward a culture where talking about your mental health feels less uncomfortable, seeking help feels less intimidating, and getting support is something people can realistically access.

That is the perspective I brought home with me, and it became one of the inspirations behind Soma.
